Forbesganj police firing was an violent clash between a mob and Bihar Police outside an underconstruction factory in which four people were killed〔...Opposing the construction, angry locals had broken the boundary wall of the factory and indulged in heavy stone pelting and arson. ==Background==
Bhajanpur villagers were agitating for a road passage through the factory site since December 2010. After negotiations between factory officials and villagers an alternate route had been agreed upon.〔(Forbesganj stir has officials baffled )...The home secretary and ADG, who interacted with villagers and police and civil officials, wondered why the villagers assembled at the spot when an agreement had been reached between the villagers and the BIADA on 1 June on an alternative route for public use, barely 100 metres away. "After several rounds of talks, an agreement on an alternate route was reached recently," he told TOI and wondered what prompted the villagers to change their mind and resort to violence on Friday.〕
On 3 June 2011 an violent mob attacked the factory, demolishing the factory wall and indulged in arson which led to police action. Initially the police tried to control the mob with baton charge but when the mob grew more violent shots were fired resulting in death of two persons. Later two more people died in hospital due to injuries sustained during the violence.〔
Bihar Chief minister Nitish Kumar announced a judicial probe into the firing.
